Ngoc Ha Ward, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi
On the night of December 27, 1972, an American B-52 was shot down by Hanoi troops and civilians and fell to Huu Tiep Lake. Since then, the wreckage of B-52 in Huu Tiep Lake became the symbol of Dien Bien Phu victory in the air and the pride of the people of Ngoc Ha as well as the entire Vietnamese nation.
This is also known as B-52 lake where is the only one place that still preserves a part of the B-52 remnants until now in Hanoi capital. People often call it “B-52 lake”. Go visiting Huu Tiep lake and hear the local people tell you historical stories about the victory and the aircraft B52.
The B-52 crashed in the middle of Huu Tiep lake and have been lying for more than 40 years that makes what the rest of the aircraft shot down by the Vietnamese Air Force looks like an iron pile, but yet is the pride of the people of Hanoi.
